Tour Overview

Aswan, from Hurghada

Engineering, sacred island architecture and ancient stone-working in one carefully organised day.

A Norevia Trips representative will collect you from the selected hotel for the journey to Aswan. Travel in an air-conditioned limousine or van and meet the qualified Egyptologist who will guide you through the city’s most important monuments.

Begin at the Aswan High Dam, one of the defining engineering projects of modern Egypt. From the dam, look across the vast waters of Lake Nasser and learn how the project changed water management, agriculture and electricity generation along the Nile.

Continue by boat to the Philae Temple complex, dedicated principally to the goddess Isis. The sanctuary developed over many centuries and became one of the last major centres of ancient Egyptian religious worship. Explore its pylons, courts, reliefs and island setting with explanations from your Egyptologist guide.

After lunch, visit the ancient granite quarries and the Unfinished Obelisk. The enormous monument remains attached to the bedrock after a crack appeared during carving. Its tool marks offer a rare look at how ancient Egyptian workers shaped colossal stone monuments. The tour ends with the return journey and drop-off at your hotel.
